Initial Comment:
I'm running xmltb-0.5.61-1 from Debian on an UTF-8 system, where I was getting wrong output some several characters not available in the ISO-8859-1 encoding used by the grabber. As epgData.com switched over to UTF-8 I switched the grabber over to UTF-8 as well. Since it took a lot of time to get it working, several other things were changed as well.
I also tried to add caching the download file, since I use MythTV and need to grab the data two times for two different tuners, but this is not working yet, since the transparent cache doesn't store the required extra hreaders.
There are also additional channels available from epgData:

Full UTF-8 support is available in CVS now. For your other changes, please
rebase them on the current CVS state.

This patch contains too many changes for too many different things. Please
create individual patches for individual features or changes. And please
create separate tickets for those too.

I'm already testing changes for improved UTF-8 support locally for a few
days. If you want you can upload your changes as a patch though.
