[Xmltv-devel] Who takes care of Ubuntu bugs? (they've been mostly fixed some time ago...)

Hi,

I've been going through Ubuntu bugs and think that they have all been
fixed already (or are not fixable) from our point of view.
As I'm not into Ubuntu's bug/release tracking process I'd appreciate
some help from whoever is maintaining xmltv over at Ubuntu.

fixed in the upcoming release:
* https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xmltv/+bug/669350
_ch_search was crashing with the old grabber on the updated site

fixed in 0.5.57
* https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xmltv/+bug/558778
_fr is working on the nightly tests, fix was during february
(which means it was already fixed but not released at the time of the
bug report)
* https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xmltv/+bug/577974
_na_dd was updated to cope with newer Date::Manip
* https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xmltv/+bug/471372
_uk_rt had some bug that was confirmed as fixed in cvs more then a
year ago

fixed some time ago, don't know when
* https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xmltv/+bug/331454
complains about some _uk_* not working in hardy, might just mark
it as fixed with 0.5.57, 0.5.58 or the upcoming release as both
_uk grabbers are working (just make the arrival of a current xmltv
package in ubuntu hardy mark the bug as fixed)

will not be fixed
* https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xmltv/+bug/282656
_be got disabled 2 years ago due to the ident string being blocked by
the site. There's no point in keeping such bugs open.

which leaves one bug that's fixed but not yet rolled out due to
uncommon dependencies:
* https://bugs.launchpad.net/mythbuntu/+bug/544522
xmltv 0.5.57 depends on Parse::RecDescent which seems to be somewhat
uncommon (only used for _dk_dr, might just work around it to get rid
of the dependency)

Regards,
Karl

I'm not quite sure who is looking after xmltv in Ubuntu at the moment -
I''ve not really seen any activity lately. I know Dave Walker was working on
it a while back, not sure if he's subscribed here…

I do keep an eye on the Ubuntu bugs, and occasionally go through and update

I've mentioned on the report that it's fixed in later versions…

Comment added to that effect - I don't have permission on LP to mark it as
"Won't fix" myself.

Parse::RecDescent is available in Ubuntu, so shouldn't be a problem if
someone wants to backport the newer xmltv package. The main issue is that
Date::Manip in lucid is only version 6.05, so would need updating to at
least 6.07 for xmltv to work properly.

If someone from Ubuntu wants to work on these, I can provide help if
necessary… I don't currently have enough free time to do much myself; I'm
spending most of the time concentrating on Debian's upcoming stable release.
